Home-Alone
COVID 19 Pandemic
“Home” traditionally represents both safety and community. Once the pandemic hit COVID turned our concept of home into one of forced isolation and disconnected us from one another. Additionally, the political polarization and turmoil we are experiencing add another layer of separation.
In creating my images, I use color as spatial dividers, holding us in and at the same time locking us out. I intentionally “block” out the ubiquitous automobile which further isolates us. Technology and wires everywhere make communication a virtual rather than an authentic experience. At one time homes had names, now there are just numbers. In my effort to inspire hope, I show a bit of the “real” in each image, you just have to look for it.
